This week I have an interview with Angela J. Ford about her series The Four Worlds Series.

What was the most surprising thing you found out while researching/writing your latest book?

I found it surprising how easy it was to write the story. Most of the time I come to a point where I really need to sit back and think about the characters interaction and how they are going to make their next move. When writing Eliesmore and the Green Stone it was almost like I was watching a movie or standing in a forest, watching the story unfold.

Why did you choose this setting?

The Four Worlds Series takes place in a world created from pure imagination. Ideally it’s in a galaxy far, far away, if I may be so humble as to borrow that phrase from Star Wars. I haven’t decided which galaxy epic adventures within the Four Worlds take place, but it’s certainly not the Milky Way Galaxy. But I digress.

I wanted to create a lush, rich land, young and wild, full of possibilities. The world is quite young. The people groups are unorganized. There’s are mysterious creatures around every corner, and hidden treasure if one is willing to search. Lost power tokens are there to be discovered, the people groups wake, ripe with power.

This is a land where everything is possible, and nothing is what it seems.

What’s unique about your world?

The reason it’s called the Four Worlds is because there are 4 main landmasses or what we would call continents. There is rarely any crossover between the worlds, although it does happen on occasion…and it’s always a bad idea.

The events that take place in The Five Warriors happen in the Western World. It’s divided by the north and south by a sea, full of sea monsters. In fact, crossing the sea and getting attacked by a monster is something that happens in almost all of my books.

The events that take place in The Blended Ones happen about 181 years after The Five Warriors. This time readers are taken to the Eastern World which is a smaller land with islands off the west coast. The land isn’t as pretty as the Western World, but the Eastern World can boast about the North Forests, a treacherous place where people go but never come back…

28 years after The Blended Ones, readers are taken to the South World. It’s the largest world and the place where the immortals made their home. The South World could be called paradise, it is both intoxicating and treacherous.

How real do you think the science is in your book?

The science in the book is not real at all. I write a science fiction spin off that takes place in the North World, it’s quite laughable and nowhere near possible.

What did you include that you wish was real today?

One of my favorite places I wrote about is the kingdom in the clouds, a place where creatures that fly live. If you fly high enough you will rise above the clouds and a find a castle suspended in the sky with golden towers. The creatures of the night will give you passage, or lock you up forever, depending on their mood.

Changers have arisen, wreaking havoc as they harvest the world, searching for the Green Stone. The South World sinks in despair, holding its breath, waiting for the One.

Eliesmore is a Blended One, growing up on the edge of the forest of the creatures of the wood. Young, headstrong, and inspired by magical rituals, he spends his time between his overprotective mother and sneaking out to dance with the wild things. His courage is tested when Eliesmore discovers that he is One who is meant to save the Four Worlds from the Changers. Unwilling to accept his fate, he turns his back on the prophecy and the futile quest to dissolve the Green Stone.

But Eliesmore will soon learn he cannot escape his destiny. Beset by creatures of the deep and hunted by servants of the Changers, Eliesmore finds his task will test the loyalty of his companions and help him answer the ultimate question:

Can he trust the immortals – or are they the reason the Changers have come to power?
